About The Position

The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is recruiting for its 2027 Summer Internship Program. There are multiple postings covering various opportunities, and candidates may apply to more than one posting or be interested in more than one of the opportunities. The summer internships provide talented students an opportunity to gain valuable experience by working on projects that support business areas and ultimately impact the national economy. The intern program also allows insight into possible future entry-level positions and exposure to several areas across the division and bank. All interns experience networking within the Bank and across the Federal Reserve System, various events ranging from Leadership Q&As to development-oriented sessions, a dedicated intern mentor program, and exposure to Bank operations and mission-driven work. The following opportunities are part of the Business Generalist internship, encompassing opportunities in supporting various divisions.

Requirements

  • Resume and Cover Letter required for application.
  • Candidates without a Cover Letter will not be considered.
  • Interest in HR is highly desired for the HR Intern role.
  • Interest in business or accounting is preferred for the Financial Management Intern role.
  • Majoring in finance, accounting, or economics along with an interest in an audit career is preferred for the Audit Intern role.
  • Candidates should be interested in Business or Information Systems for the ISPS Intern role.
  • Background or interest in accounting or finance is helpful for the Bank Examiner role.
  • Familiarity with or interest in automation tools or process mapping tools like PowerAutomate or Visio for the Business Analyst role.

Nice To Haves

  • Utilize Excel, Power BI or Tableau alongside analytical skills for the Financial Management Intern role.
  • Regional travel possible for the Bank Examiner role.

Responsibilities

  • Support multiple programs across the HR Talent Management team's portfolio, including Career Development Academy and Leadership Development.
  • Provide additional support for vendor management and other ad hoc needs within HR.
  • Support multiple teams within Financial Management (FM) through hands-on work related to month-end processes, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Support cross-team analytical projects to build a comprehensive understanding of core financial management processes.
  • Act as an assisting auditor, gaining exposure and skills relevant for audit or accounting careers, such as interviewing clients, reviewing support, and documenting workpapers.
  • Gain exposure to the broader Federal Reserve System and audit community.
  • Support the Customer Relationship (CRM) Application Project by building application profiles, generating metadata tracking ideas, and creating enhanced reporting for CRM end users.
  • Assist in Technology, Operations, and Risks Projects, contributing to business analysis for cloud migration, operations, risk management, predictive data analysis, and data visualization.
  • Support the Facilities team, gaining exposure to various business needs across the entire division, including Vendor Support & Management, process enhancements to Onboarding and Offboarding, Data Reporting, Budget, Business Analytics, Currency Operations, and Workforce planning.
  • Support department projects related to Banking Conditions, Supervision trends and insights, or other related topics within the Banking Supervision and Regulation group.
  • Participate in field assignments related to banking supervision.
  • Create PowerBI dashboards, automate workflows, and incorporate more tools to help create more efficient processes.
