About The Position

This is a temporary, part-time position (28.75 hours/week) for the summer, running from June 8 through August 12, 2026. The role involves performing basic groundskeeping and maintenance tasks across all school district locations, assisting with campus beautification, and supporting the operations department with various services. The position requires operating grounds machinery and tools, potentially applying fertilizers and chemicals under supervision, and delivering items throughout the district. The ideal candidate will be a team player, supportive of the Operations Department's goals, and able to perform physical tasks in various environmental conditions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be a team player and supportive of the overall goals of the Operations Department and Caledonia Community Schools.

Nice To Haves

• Current certification / knowledge base desirable
• A CDL license is not required but would be preferable.

Responsibilities

• Weeding, trimming, placement of mulch, area cleanup, and “campus beautification” at all school district locations.
• Assist maintenance with tasks, including roof drain cleanout, and roof debris cleaning.
• Support the department and district staff with moves, deliveries, and services.
• Perform basic grounds and maintenance tasks, prioritizing work.
• Operate a wide variety of basic grounds machinery, hand and powered tools for the purpose of maintaining the district grounds and buildings.
• Application of fertilizer, and/or chemical weed and disease control under the supervision of the Grounds staff.
• Deliver and move a wide variety of products and items throughout the district.
• Additional duties as directed by the Operations Supervisor and/or the Executive Director of Operations and Transportation.
