Summary: The Engineering Intern will support cross-functional engineering efforts across manufacturing, materials, and product development. This role provides hands-on exposure to aerospace hardware, including thermal protection systems, composites, and soft goods fabrication, while contributing to real-world projects that impact production and R&D initiatives. This is a 10-week summer internship program requiring full-time, onsite participation in Ontario, CA

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
  • Completed at least sophomore year by Summer 2026
  • Basic understanding of engineering fundamentals (thermodynamics, materials, mechanics)
  • Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work full-time onsite in Ontario, CA for the duration of the 10-week program
  • US Citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (aka green card holder), protected individual as defined by U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship or hands-on project experience (FSAE, rocketry, labs, etc.)
  • Exposure to: Composites or thermal protection systems
  • Aerospace materials (metals, honeycomb, ablatives, textiles like Kevlar/Nomex)
  • Manufacturing processes (CNC machining, cutting, bonding)
  • Experience with GD&T, MBD, or DFM principles

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering team with design, testing, and process improvement initiatives
  • Assist in development and documentation of manufacturing processes (work instructions, SOPs, travelers)
  • Participate in materials evaluation and testing (thermal, mechanical, or environmental as applicable)
  • Collaborate with production teams on root cause analysis and continuous improvement (Lean/5S)
  • Contribute to CAD modeling, drawings, and design updates (SolidWorks or similar)
  • Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting for engineering projects
  • Support prototype builds, validation testing, and product qualification efforts
