About The Position

Electrified Thermal Solutions is seeking a Design Engineering Intern to join their engineering team. The intern will play a pivotal role in scaling up the 1 MW Commercial Demonstration Product System to a First-of-a-Kind flagship Joule Hive product. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on a cutting-edge project in renewable energy technology. The intern will report to the Lead Structural Design Engineer.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks or Onshape
• Ability to use Microsoft Excel and other tools for analytical means.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with Python or Matlab is a plus.
• Experience with renewable energy systems, thermal energy storage, or extreme temperature systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the specification, design and optimization of a critical sub-assembly within a commercial Thermal Energy Storage (TES) system
• Generate parts, assemblies, and drawings within CAD in collaboration with internal and external partners
• Leverage engineering analysis and simulation methods to inform design decisions impacting R&D prototyping and final product design
• Maintenance of detailed documentation throughout project work – including design specifications, CAD models, simulation results, and test reports.
• Regular progress updates and technical reports to project stakeholders
