About The Position

At RRS Group, we create immersive retail environments, memorable brand experiences, and innovative spaces that connect people with brands. We are seeking a passionate and creative Interior Design Intern to join our San Francisco studio for Fall 2026. This hybrid position offers the opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team focused on Retail Design, Architecture, Store Development, and Brand Activation projects for leading global clients. The successful candidate will support the design team throughout the creative process, contributing to the development of consumer-driven environments that bring brand stories to life through thoughtful design, strategic planning, and compelling visual communication. Candidates must submit a portfolio showcasing academic, professional, or personal design projects as part of their application. Portfolios should demonstrate creativity, technical proficiency, space planning abilities, 3D visualization skills, and an understanding of retail, experiential, or interior design concepts. Applications submitted without a portfolio may not be considered.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or a related field.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating creativity, technical skills, and design thinking.
  • Passion for Retail Design, Store Design, Architecture, Experiential Design, and Brand Activation.
  • Understanding of space planning principles and customer-centric design strategies.
  • Knowledge of furnishings, fixtures, finishes, and material applications.
  • Strong 3D visualization and rendering skills.
  • Proficiency in SketchUp is required.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is required.
  • Basic AutoCAD skills are required.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and strong follow-through on assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Interior Designers, Architects, and Brand Experience professionals on retail and experiential design projects.
  • Participate in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and client-focused team meetings.
  • Assist in developing design concepts, space planning studies, and customer experience journeys.
  • Create 3D models, renderings, and visual presentations to communicate design intent.
  • Support material, finish, color, and furniture selections aligned with brand standards and project goals.
  • Coordinate vendor and manufacturer presentations as needed.
  • Maintain and organize the studio’s materials library and sample inventory.
  • Assist with design documentation, presentations, and project-related research.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative retail environments, branded spaces, and activation experiences.
