About The Position

Club SciKidz MD offers science and technology summer camps for children ages 4-15 years in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Howard, and Montgomery counties. We are currently hiring two DIRECTORS for our Howard County locations. Weekly salary starts at $775 and is dependent on experience. We are hiring one for our Science and Lego camps and one for our Cooking camps. These programs are run through the rec and parks department and are held throughout Howard County. (2 weeks in Cooksville, 3 weeks In Ellicott City, 3 weeks in North Laurel, 2 weeks in Columbia (Cooking Only)

Requirements

  • Camps are held 6/22, 7/6, 7/13, 7/20, 7/27, 8/3, 8/10 and 8/17. Priority give to candidates who can work the most number of weeks.
  • Able to work at all locations throughout the summer, accoring to the schedule
  • Work Monday-Friday, 7:50am-5:30pm
  • Attend trainings: Staff Training, Saturday, June 6 and Crowd Management training
  • CPR & First Aid certification (must have certification by first day of camp; must be in-person camp)
  • Passionate about working with children and teaching & providing a positive camp experience

Nice To Haves

  • Certified teacher with at least 2 years teaching experience; other comparable experience considered
  • Enjoy cooking and working with food; have a solid understanding of basic cooking, baking and kitchen skills (Cooking Director)
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with parents, as well as with handling parent concerns
  • Strong classroom management skills and experience working with children of varying behaviors, abilities and needs
  • Possess leadership skills; potential interest in pursuing administration roles
  • Strong communication skills & detail oriented
  • Love working with kids

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the camp
  • Managing staff & ensuring programs are implemented
  • Ensuring camper supervision and safety and handling camper behaviors
  • Parent communication and interaction
  • Maintaining compliance with state regulations
  • Overseeing the implementation of the cooking camps, either one or two sets (AM & PM) each week
  • Ensuring lessons and activities are implemented appropriately; helping and assisting as needed
  • Ensure staff has needed materials and ingredients for each day and purchasing perishables throughout the week; keeping ingredients and materials organized and stocked from day to day; using provided lessons and packing lists to check materials and supplies
  • Overseeing any needed modifications due to food allergies
  • Handling camper sign-in and sign out, following all established procedures and guidelines
