About The Position

The Town of Wasaga Beach is seeking a creative, energetic and self-motivated team player to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of Summer Day Camp Counsellor. Hours and days of work are subject to camp registration numbers and operational needs. Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator, Camp Counsellors will work as part of a team who are responsible for the development, implementation and delivery of programs to campers 4 to 12 years of age. Camp Counsellors will engage with the campers in a variety of recreation activities by maintaining staff to camper ratios ensuring safety. The successful candidate(s) will be required to communicate effectively with campers, parents, the community and Town staff.

Requirements

• Minimum age 16
• Previous related job experience working with children 0 to 12 years of age
• Strong interpersonal and effective written and verbal communication skills required
• Ability to provide exceptional customer service and promote town of Wasaga beach recreation programs
• Effective problem solving skills required
• An acceptable and current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference check is required for individuals 18+ years of age
• Standard First Aid CPR – C with AED certification required
• General knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Ability to lead, work with and contribute positively to a service oriented team
• Ability to work in inclement weather conditions
• Available to attend Training on June 29 & 30, 2026

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma and previous leadership training preferred
• Coaching experience in sport and certifications through NCCP or other sport specific accreditation including High Five, considered an asset
• Experience facilitating children’s activities, such as: sports, recreational activities, crafts and events or tournaments considered an asset

Responsibilities
