About The Position

Discover After School, founded in 2019, is on a mission to empower children through hands-on STEAM exploration. What started as after-school clubs has grown into a network of before & after-school programs, seasonal camps, and community events. We blend science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) with fun, high-energy activities to spark creativity and confidence in every child. Having served over 2,000 students across Orange County, we continue expanding our impact through innovative programming and meaningful community partnerships. Our mission is to paint a world of possibilities for the next generation through STEAM. The Summer Camp Site Director is responsible for leading all aspects of the summer camp program, ensuring a safe, engaging, and well-structured environment for campers and staff. This role oversees daily camp operations, supervises staff, and ensures all activities align with Discover After School’s standards and mission. The Site Director serves as the primary leader on-site, maintaining strong communication with families, school administration, and leadership while creating a fun, organized, and enriching camp experience.

Requirements

  • First Aid and CPR Certification (required).
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with children.
  • At least 6 months of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma (required).
  • Successful completion of background and drug screening.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe, fun, and engaging camp experience for all students.
  • Oversee daily camp operations, including scheduling, activities, and transitions.
  • Supervise, train, and support camp staff to ensure proper child supervision and program quality.
  • Plan and implement structured daily activities, including STEAM projects, outdoor play, and themed camp experiences.
  • Maintain accurate records for attendance, incidents, and health/safety compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all district policies, state regulations, and safety standards.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, staff, and administration.
  • Foster a positive camp culture and model appropriate behavior for staff and students.
  • Address and resolve conflicts or behavioral concerns in a professional manner.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of all camp areas, materials, and equipment.
