About The Position

Galileo Learning is an educational innovation camp that provides best-in-class programs to K-8 students through 75+ in-person summer day camps nationwide. The Summer Camp Site Director leads dynamic summer camps for K–8th grade, serving as both site General Manager and the public face of the organization. Reporting to a Field Program Manager, the Director is responsible for opening and operating a Camp Galileo location, leading a seasonal team of educators and entry-level staff to create joyful, safe environments, and ensuring smooth daily operations. Key aspects of the role include upholding program quality, fostering creativity, and delivering excellence in customer care, curriculum, and team leadership.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in working in education/child development (K-8 preferred) or related coursework
  • 1+ year of team management and coaching experience or supervisory experience
  • Availability for part-time remote work starting Feb 2026, and full-time on-site work starting June 2026 (dates vary by location)
  • Willingness to travel in the region to up to 3 in person marketing events, in the preseason
  • Flexibility to adapt and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to complete all required state certifications before camp starts
  • Must be at least 21 years old (Colorado State Requirement)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (e.g., Child Development, Psychology, Early Childhood Education, etc.) OR Associate's Degree or 60 college credits + 3 months (455 hours) of experience supervising 4+ unrelated children (ages 4+) OR 21 months (3,185 hours) of relevant experience + either 6 college credits or 40 clock hours of school-age children-related training OR Current Early Childhood Professional Credential Level II (or higher) (Colorado State Requirement)
  • Direct supervision of 4+ children (ages 4-18) who are not related to applicant (Colorado State Requirement)
  • Experience must be verifiable with proper documentation (e.g., letters from employers, signed and on company letterhead) (Colorado State Requirement)
  • Completion of CO licensing requirements upon hire; including PDIS trainings, background checks, 2h in person Med admin training, CPR/First Aid (Colorado State Requirement)

Responsibilities

  • Infuse camp with joy, tradition, and creativity, building an inclusive environment where every camper, staff member, and family feels seen, supported, and inspired.
  • Own every aspect of your camp’s launch from preseason planning through end-of-summer wrap-up, overseeing daily camp operations to parent communication, while delivering an exceptional program.
  • Prioritize camper safety and family trust at all times, anticipating needs, adapting quickly, and problem-solving on the fly to ensure camp runs seamlessly.
  • Train and mentor a staff of 10–40, providing clear expectations for instructional and program standards, ongoing feedback, and professional development, while handling core management responsibilities such as staffing, scheduling, and payroll.
  • Use the Galileo Innovation Approach (GIA) to encourage curiosity and problem-solving, leading your team in turning challenges into opportunities, keeping both spirit and operations aligned to Galileo’s mission.
  • Serve as the primary face of camp, communicating proactively with families, facilities partners and HQ support teams, collaborating with your Field Program Manager, and cultivating trust with community partners, staff, and campers.
