About The Position

Healthy Kids Programs is seeking a Summer Camp Director to guide campers through a summer filled with fun, friendship, and unforgettable adventures. This is your chance to lead, inspire, and create lifelong memories for children while being part of a supportive, award-winning team. The role involves planning and leading daily camp activities, creating a positive environment, supervising staff, ensuring camper safety, and communicating with families. The position is part-time, non-exempt, with a pay rate of $19.00 – $21.00 per hour, based on experience. A key benefit is employer-paid childcare for the director's own school-age children.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18
  • Associate’s degree or higher
  • At least ten months of direct work experience with school-age children OR Vermont On-the-Job Training Certificate OR Vermont Afterschool Professional Credential OR Vermont Program Director Credential OR Vermont Teacher Licensure OR Master’s degree in a youth-related field
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including bending, stretching, lifting, carrying up to 50 pounds, and actively engaging with energetic children

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Vermont Background Clearance and Training preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead daily camp activities, games, hands-on projects, and special events, including arts & crafts and themed activities
  • Create a positive, inclusive environment where campers feel supported, encouraged, and engaged
  • Supervise, train, and support camp staff, including implementing the curriculum to ensure high-quality program delivery
  • Ensure camper safety and follow all state guidelines, Healthy Kids policies, and host school policies
  • Communicate daily with families using the Playground App and provide support during parent orientations
  • Support community outreach to promote the program and engage prospective families
  • Lead by example with enthusiasm, positivity, and a can-do attitude
