About The Position

The Site Director is the heart of a Healthy Kids Programs location. They are responsible for what happens every day at their site — running a high-quality, engaging program that kids love and families trust, keeping the right staff in place and supported, operating safely and in full compliance with state requirements, and making sure the site has everything it needs to deliver a great experience. This is a role for someone who is energetic, organized, and passionate about making a real difference for kids every single day.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to successfully pass a TB test.
  • Ability to complete all required onboarding and state-mandated trainings if not already certified.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Familiarity with Alabama DHR licensing standards.
  • Genuinely passionate about kids — you show up every day ready to make their experience great
  • Organized and on top of the details — you don’t let things slip through the cracks
  • A natural leader who earns the respect of your team by working hard and treating people well
  • A strong communicator with families, school staff, and your supervisor
  • Calm, flexible, and resourceful when things don’t go as planned
  • Must pass a full background check including fingerprinting and reference checks

Responsibilities

  • Run a high-quality, engaging daily program that reflects HKP’s curriculum, values, and standards
  • Implement HKP’s 10 Healthy Ways to Engage with Students and daily programming materials consistently
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and fun environment where every child feels seen, included, and cared for
  • Communicate regularly with families; be responsive, warm, and proactive about what’s happening at the site
  • Support enrollment by delivering a program that families want to stay in and recommend to others
  • Participate in enrollment events and outreach as requested by your supervisor
  • Share program observations, family feedback, and any enrollment concerns with your Multi-Site Director
  • Supervise and support Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers in their daily work
  • Set clear expectations for staff conduct, program delivery, and professionalism; model the standard yourself
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs of your site to observe program quality and compliance; provide real-time coaching and feedback to teachers based on what you see
  • Communicate scheduling needs and coverage gaps to your Multi-Site Director proactively
  • Assist with onboarding new staff at your site; help them get up to speed quickly
  • Flag performance concerns or personnel issues to your supervisor promptly and document as appropriate
  • Build a team environment where staff feel supported, valued, and connected to the mission
  • Schedule staff to ratio — never over or under; right-sizing hours is both a compliance and a budget responsibility
  • Review and approve timecards accurately and on time; ensure hours reflect actual time worked
  • Monitor payroll costs against budget; flag anomalies and take corrective action when hours exceed plan
  • Build schedules with efficiency in mind — minimize unnecessary overtime and maximize coverage with the staff you have
  • Communicate schedule changes proactively; keep staff informed and document adjustments
  • Use HKP’s payroll and scheduling platforms (e.g., Paylocity) accurately and consistently
  • Maintain required staff-to-child ratios at all times; this is non-negotiable
  • Take daily attendance accurately; keep records complete, organized, and current
  • Ensure the program space is safe, clean, and meets all state licensing requirements
  • Verify that all staff working at your site have current required certifications (CPR, first aid, mandated reporter training, etc.)
  • Report any health, safety, or compliance concerns to your Multi-Site Director immediately
  • Be prepared for unannounced licensing inspections at any time; maintain inspection-ready standards every day
  • Maintain an organized inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment at your site
  • Track what you have and what you need; communicate restocking requests to your Multi-Site Director before you run out
  • Ensure teachers have the materials they need for daily programming — arts and crafts, activity supplies, academic support resources, and more
  • Keep the program space organized and materials properly stored at the end of each day
  • Flag any broken, damaged, or missing equipment to your supervisor promptly
  • Handle supplies responsibly and model good stewardship of site resources with your team
