About The Position

A Registered Nurse position is available for the District 54 summer camp program. Dates include: June 8-11, 15-25 (not including June 19). Hours are 8:45-11:00 and 12:45-3:00. The location within District 54 is to be determined and may require traveling between buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate the health and developmental status of pupils to discover their health needs and problems and to establish priorities for action consulting with a Certified School Nurse when indicated.
  • Interpret the health and developmental status of the pupils for parents, school personnel and also for the pupil consulting with a Certified School Nurse when indicated.
  • Interpret the results of medical findings concerning the pupil to parents, school personnel and for the pupil consulting with a Certified School Nurse when indicated.
  • Counsel the pupil, his parents and school personnel.
  • Plan action for eliminating, minimizing or accepting the health problems that interfere with pupils' effective learning consulting with a Certified School Nurse when indicated.
  • Guide those responsible for pupils health to find and use appropriate resources.
  • Recommend modification in educational program when indicated upon consultation with a Certified School Nurse as needed.
  • Serve as a health consultant and resource person by providing current information.
  • Use direct health services as a vehicle for health counseling.
  • Protect student health by attention to environmental health factors and by providing emergency care for illness and injury occurring in school and while the student is under the jurisdiction of the school.
  • Serve as a liaison between the parents, school and the community in all health matters.
  • Works with community agencies for effective use of their resources and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate student health records.
  • Become familiar with the state, county and local health agencies, physicians and specialists.
  • Comply with state laws regarding any health matters.
  • Pursues educational studies to maintain and improve professional level of performance.
  • Act as resource for Float Nurses when needed.
