About The Position
College Settlement Camp is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their experienced and supportive camp health team for the summer season. This role is similar to school nursing, focusing on basic first aid, daily medication administration, and routine health support in a joyful, outdoor camp setting. The camp is hiring for both day and residential (live-in) positions. Camp nursing involves steady, purposeful, and people-centered routine care, including administering scheduled medications, managing minor injuries, supporting campers with health needs, and maintaining clear, organized records. Nurses will work as part of a strong medical team, including other nurses, nurse assistants, and camp leadership. The health team is crucial in ensuring campers feel safe, supported, and ready to enjoy various camp activities. This position is ideal for nurses who enjoy working with children, appreciate structure and routine, and seek a low-acuity, collaborative, and deeply meaningful summer role. College Settlement is a nonprofit camp with over 100 years of summer programming and nearly 50 years of outdoor education, serving children from diverse backgrounds with intentionally inclusive and financially accessible programs.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Responsibilities
- Orient program staff to camper vital health information before each session
- Screen campers at session check-in (every 2 weeks)
- Provide basic first aid to campers and staff
- Administer daily and as-needed medications (per standing orders)
- Respond to medical concerns and emergencies
- Complete incident and accident documentation
- Coordinate off-site medical care when needed
- Follow current CDC and camp health protocols
