About The Position

Galileo Learning is seeking an experienced leader to serve as Camp Director for a Camp Galileo location in the Thousand Oaks/Westlake Village area. The director acts as the site’s General Manager and public face, leading a seasonal team of educators and entry-level staff to create joyful, safe summer camps for K–8th grade campers. The role is responsible for an exceptional experience for campers and families, high program quality, curriculum delivery, customer care, team leadership, and smooth daily operations. The role runs seasonally from March through September 2027 and is divided into three phases. Training and preparation from March to June involve approximately 5–15 hours per week, mostly flexible and remote, with scheduled and in-person commitments. Camp operations from June to August are on site, typically 7:00 AM–6:00 PM Monday through Friday, up to 50 hours per week for 5–8 weeks depending on placement. Wrap-up work in August and September is remote and totals up to five hours for administrative tasks and staff reviews. Dates and hours vary by hire date and site operating dates. Some preseason events may be in the evenings or on weekends. Compensation is listed as a Year 1 estimate: hourly pay of $23–$25 for preseason preparation and training, a summer weekly salary of $1,500 plus $50 per week for each year of returning tenure in the role, and hourly pay of $23–$25 for postseason work. The role also offers an additional $1 per camper-week enrollment and potential commission for add-on weeks. Compensation may vary based on geography and tenure. Perks include free camp for the director’s child or children, or two giftable weeks including extended care; a 15% Friends & Family discount; and priority nomination for financial assistance for someone the director knows. Applicants must be able to meet state requirements for working with children, including required screenings and Adult & Child First Aid/CPR/AED certification. A Tuberculosis screening may be required during onboarding, subject to applicable requirements.
