About The Position

Galileo Learning is seeking an experienced leader to direct a Camp Galileo location serving K–8th grade campers and their families. The Camp Director serves as the site General Manager and public face of the organization, leading a seasonal team of educators and entry-level staff to create a safe, joyful, inclusive environment and deliver high-quality programming and customer care. The role owns the camp’s launch and operations from preseason planning through end-of-summer wrap-up. It includes responsibility for program quality, safety, family communication, community partnerships, staff training and development, scheduling, payroll, and performance management. The Director uses Galileo’s Innovation Approach to foster creativity and problem-solving, responds calmly to changing circumstances, and works with the Field Program Manager to act on feedback. This seasonal position runs March–September 2027 and has three phases. Training and preparation (March–June) involve 5–15 hours per week, mostly flexible and remote, with scheduled and in-person commitments; some events may occur evenings or weekends. On-site camp operations (June–August) typically run Monday–Friday, between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, for up to 50 hours per week over 5–8 weeks, depending on placement. Wrap-up (August–September) includes up to five total remote hours for administrative tasks and staff reviews. Compensation is described as a Year 1 estimate: preseason and postseason hourly pay of $23–$25, and a summer weekly salary of $1,500 plus $50 per week for each year of returning tenure in the role. The position also offers $1 per camper-week enrollment and potential commission for add-on weeks. Compensation may vary based on factors including geography and tenure.
