About The Position

Galileo Learning is seeking an experienced Camp Director to lead a summer day camp for K–8th grade campers in Boulder. The director serves as the site General Manager and the public face of Galileo, opening and operating the camp and leading a seasonal team of educators and entry-level staff. The role focuses on creating a joyful, safe and inclusive environment while delivering strong camper and family experiences, program quality, customer care, curriculum implementation and team leadership. The director owns the camp launch from preseason planning through end-of-summer wrap-up. Responsibilities span daily operations, parent communication, safety, program fidelity, staffing, scheduling, payroll and performance management. Directors train, mentor and develop teams of 7 to 40 people, build a strong team culture, and work with families, facility partners, community partners and Galileo colleagues. They use the Galileo Innovation Approach to foster creativity, curiosity and problem-solving, and collaborate with their Field Program Manager to act on feedback and improve. This seasonal role runs March–September 2027 and has three phases. Training and preparation (March–June) generally require 5–15 hours per week, mostly flexible and remote, with scheduled and in-person commitments, including training, a Bay Area retreat, marketing events and camp-site preparation. Some events may occur evenings or weekends. On-site camp operations (June–August) typically run Monday–Friday between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, for up to 50 hours per week over 5–8 weeks, depending on placement. Wrap-up (August–September) involves up to five total remote hours for administrative tasks and staff reviews. Compensation is estimated at $22–$24 per hour for flexible part-time preseason preparation and training, a weekly summer salary of $1,400 plus $50 per week for each year of returning tenure, and $22–$24 per hour for part-time postseason work. Additional compensation includes $1 per camper-week enrollment and potential commission for add-on weeks. Compensation may vary based on factors including geography and tenure. Perks include free camp for the employee’s children or two giftable weeks (including extended care), a 15% Friends & Family discount, and priority nomination for financial assistance for someone the employee knows.
