About The Position

This position supports the safe and efficient operation of the bike park by patrolling trails, identifying hazards, and monitoring changing conditions. The role provides guest assistance and education, responds to injuries with appropriate first aid, and follows established reporting procedures. It also assists with lift operations, including bike loading and evacuation training, and contributes to trail and facility maintenance to ensure clean, safe, and well‑maintained environments for all riders.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High School diploma, GED, or related experience.
  • Ability to operate an ATV, side by side, patient litter.
  • Able to work up to 40 hours per week including during holidays, weekends, and evenings, as necessary.
  • Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to use a shovel, pick, rake, and other related tools.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (50+ pounds), walk, and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to complete paperwork and keep records in an organized fashion.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency, follow and adhere to all company standards.
  • Strong communication skills and good judgment skills in dealing with guests.
  • Ability to react quickly under pressure.
  • Ability to ride a chairlift as a passenger.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol trails and slopes for hazards to the public.
  • Be alert at all times, monitor safety, and enforce the Mountain Bike Responsibility Code.
  • Mark unsafe areas and monitor trail conditions based on weather and public usage.
  • Ensure the hill is clear and safe to open before the public is loaded on the chairlift.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of any problems or unusual conditions.
  • Ensure that no bikers remain on trails at the end of the day or during inclement weather via patrol sweep.
  • Call for assistance as needed.
  • Provide information to riders.
  • Educate the public on mountain bike responsibility codes.
  • Navigate guest relations in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Professionally resolve issues during the shift and communicate with Patrol Director/Manager on Duty when support is required.
  • Respond to injured guests and render first aid or transport them to the aid room for further treatment.
  • Ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed and communicate challenges to the Patrol Director or Mountain Manager.
  • Notify EMS in cases of serious injury where additional treatment is required.
  • Participate in ski lift evacuation training exercises and perform evacuations if necessary.
  • Assist lift operators with loading bikes, customer service, and monitoring the chairlift when needed.
  • Assist with working on trails, picking up debris on slopes, and reworking trails when needed.
  • Maintain the aid room and bump shack by cleaning and organizing equipment daily to eliminate hazards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
