About The Position

Jefferies Finance is seeking a Summer Analyst for their Financial Planning & Accounting team in New York. This role is part of a 10-week internship program. The intern will be staffed on the Finance and Accounting teams and will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of internal monitoring and reporting for senior management, customizing presentations for internal and external stakeholders, and assisting in the analysis of accounting data. Interns will gain exposure to a comprehensive list of financial and accounting responsibilities critical to the management of a diversified financial institution. The work environment is fast-paced, intense, and intellectually stimulating, requiring the ability to multitask, manage projects, work under pressure and tight deadlines, be adaptable, and work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Assisting in preparation of internal monitoring and reporting for senior management.
Customizing presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Assisting in analysis of accounting data.
Preparing reconciliations of cash and investment positions and tracking expenses.
Assisting in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes and related reporting.
Assisting in the annual audit, including preparation of year-end schedules for the overall consolidated financial statements, disclosures, and analysis.
Designing and updating presentations for various institutional investors, rating agencies, other financial institutions, in addition to management, and other internal parties.
Assisting with specific reporting/analysis requests, and special projects.
Assisting Managing Directors and senior staff as needed with various reports and analyses of strategic initiatives.
