About The Position

This position will work in a twenty-four (24) hour communications center as the Suicide Prevention Call Center Supervisor. The office is located in Little Rock. The Supervisor has the right to change any or all shifts as needed to maintain coverage. The mission of the Department of Health is to protect and improve the health and well-being of all Arkansans. The Suicide Prevention Supervisor/Expert provides strategic leadership for statewide or regional suicide prevention programs. This position manages initiatives focused on education, outreach, intervention, postvention, and systemic response to suicide risk. The Supervisor/Expert collaborates with public agencies, health systems, crisis response teams, and community organizations to ensure evidence-based practices, training, and direct support services are implemented in accordance with national standards and Arkansas law.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of principles of suicide prevention, risk assessment, safety planning, and trauma-informed care.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations and crisis response techniques.
  • Ability to keep accurate and detailed records and support individuals experiencing distress or crisis while maintaining boundaries and professionalism.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse communities, follow protocols, and identify client needs.
  • Skilled in time management, organization, and problem solving.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in behavioral health, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, or a related field, including one year in a leadership capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision, leadership, and guidance to suicide prevention staff and peer teams.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor strategic suicide prevention initiatives aligned with national best practices.
  • Oversee data collection, performance metrics, and quality assurance processes for suicide-related incidents, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Serve as a liaison to community coalitions, advisory boards, task forces, and state suicide prevention networks.
  • Participate in postvention planning, including support for affected individuals, agencies, and communities.
  • Monitor grant performance and budget compliance, including state and federal reporting requirements.
  • Represent the agency in media, legislative, and stakeholder forums when appropriate.
