About The Position

KCI Technologies, Inc. is hiring a SUE Technician III for a field-based position. The role involves locating and designating underground utilities, documenting field activities, and may require safely operating and maintaining a vacuum excavation truck and related equipment. The position is similar to a utility locator or utility designator and involves using various pipe and cable locating devices. Experience with Subsurface Utility Engineering is preferred. The role also requires understanding basic traffic control and working safely in and around traffic.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of utility locating or designating experience using various types of pipe and cable locating devices.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to maintain required certifications.
• Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment.
• Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE).
• Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) experience.
• Surveying experience.
• CADD experience.
• Vacuum excavation truck experience.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate and maintain a vacuum excavation truck and related equipment, as required.
• Designate and locate a variety of underground utilities using pipe and cable locating devices.
• Create legible field sketches and perform simple mathematics and field measurements.
• Document daily activities and perform records research.
• Understand basic traffic control and hazards associated with working in and around traffic, and follow safety precautions.
• Maintain required certifications.
