About The Position

KCI Technologies, Inc. is seeking a field-based SUE Technician III. The role involves locating and designating underground utilities, producing clear field sketches, taking field measurements, documenting daily activities, and researching records. The technician may also be required to operate and maintain a vacuum excavation truck and related equipment safely and efficiently. The work requires awareness of traffic-control fundamentals and hazards when working in or around traffic, along with appropriate safety precautions. Experience with Subsurface Utility Engineering is preferred; experience with Ground Penetrating Radar, surveying, CADD, or vacuum excavation trucks is a plus.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• At least 2 years of utility locating or designating experience using a variety of pipe and cable locating devices.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to maintain required certifications.
• Understanding of basic traffic control and hazards associated with working in and around traffic.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE).

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a vacuum excavation truck and related equipment safely and efficiently, as required.
• Locate and designate a variety of underground utilities using utility-locating equipment.
• Create legible field sketches.
• Perform simple mathematics and field measurements.
• Document daily activities.
• Perform records research.
• Follow safety precautions when working in or around traffic.
