About The Position

HealthRIGHT 360, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to providing accessible healthcare to vulnerable populations, focusing on mental health, substance use treatment, and primary health services. North County Serenity House (NCSH), a residential program, offers gender-responsive and trauma-informed substance use disorder services for up to 120 women and their children. The SUD Supervisor I leads a team to ensure quality client care, maintain a supportive environment, and achieve organizational goals. This role involves overseeing client care, staff scheduling, managing external agency relationships, and supporting daily operations aligned with HealthRIGHT 360's mission and values.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Option I: Registration as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor from an accredited California agency (CCAPP, CAADE, CADTP).
  • Option I: At least 1 year’s experience providing supervision to direct service providers, preferably in a non-profit organization or comparable agencies with similar client populations.
  • Option II: Certification as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor from an accredited California agency (CCAPP, CAADE, CADTP).
  • Experience with efficient and effective treatment and management of clients with co-occurring disorders.
  • Experience providing trauma-informed services.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and access to registered and insured transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and guide direct service staff, including SUD Counselors and Client Safety Navigators.
  • Assist management with hiring and termination processes.
  • Ensure direct reports comply with organizational policies, procedures, performance goals, and contractual requirements.
  • Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, support, and conduct formal performance evaluations.
  • Deliver and arrange training and resources for direct reports.
  • Manage work schedules and approve time off to ensure program coverage.
  • Communicate policy updates and quality-of-care concerns to team members.
  • Maintain open communication with the manager regarding employee matters, client assignments, and workload distribution.
  • Address team conflicts promptly and diplomatically.
  • Lead weekly staff meetings to discuss program updates, issues, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure overnight staff remain alert and awake during their shifts.
  • Assign clients to staff caseloads.
  • Ensure treatment service plans and activities align with organizational values, mission, vision, and strategy.
  • Facilitate and assist with client case conferences.
  • Ensure staff provide strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally competent services ethically and legally.
  • Ensure program safety and security and mediate client grievances.
  • Respond to emergencies, crises, or events, including during holidays, weekends, and afterhours.
  • Ensure timely submission of all documentation (progress notes, assessments, treatment plans, discharges) in accordance with program and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform regular audits for contract compliance.
  • Provide direct services within the scope of practice, including crisis intervention, assessments, individual and group counseling, and treatment plans.
  • Assume ownership for and see crisis situations through to completion.
  • Maintain documentation of services provided.
  • Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of clients during overnight hours.
  • Safely transport clients to designated locations during emergencies.
  • Work different shifts to gain knowledge of all program aspects.
  • Develop and maintain training-related workflows and procedures.
  • Actively participate in assigned supervision, agency, and team meetings.
  • Participate in training opportunities and complete assigned training.
  • Maintain compliance with credential requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
