About The Position

Ohio Substitute Teacher Services (OSTS) is seeking substitute teachers for long-term assignments at Stepstone Academy in Cleveland, OH. This role is crucial in ensuring educational continuity for students in the absence of their regular teacher. OSTS supports candidates from various backgrounds, including retired teachers, recent graduates, and first-time applicants. Assistance with credentialing is available. The position involves teaching Math to grades 6-8 in a small classroom setting (18-22 students). The assignment is from ASAP until the end of the school year, with a schedule of Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, including a 30-minute lunch break. The pay rate is $150.00 per day.

Requirements

• Must have a clean criminal record, verified through FBI and BCI background checks dated within 365 days of hire.
• Hold at least a Bachelor's Degree in any field.
• Provide three professional references.
• Either obtain an Ohio Department of Education Substitute Teacher License or possess a Teaching License.
• Complete SubSkills Online training (if applicable contingent after hire) and submit all mandatory professional development modules and activities using PublicSchoolWorks as a platform.
• Communicate accurately and effectively, both in writing and orally.
• Maintain an acceptable attendance record and be punctual.
• Adhere to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.

• Follows lesson plans provided by the absent classroom teacher to ensure continuity of education.
• Maintains a neat and orderly classroom environment.

• Maintains existing classroom management and discipline procedures.
• Understands and adheres to school policy and procedures.
• Provides written feedback to the regular classroom teacher regarding the day's activities and student behavior.
• Maintains accurate attendance records.
