About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers for the 2026–27 school year in Westminster and the surrounding Denver area. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, covering lesson plans and serving as positive role models who support students’ learning and help them see what is possible. Teachers can choose their own schedule and work up to five days per week in assignments that interest them. Assignments may be daily or long-term, with pay depending on experience and certification. The role may also involve other school duties, including lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring tests. Kokua offers support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and describes the position as a potential path to permanent roles at high-performing schools.

Requirements

At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
Confidence managing a classroom of students.
Willingness to step in where needed for additional school duties.
Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
Believe that every child has a unique and powerful gift to share with the world.

Nice To Haves

A bachelor’s degree is preferred; candidates without a degree may be considered based on relevant work experience.
Relevant experience working with students should be included on the resume.

Responsibilities
