About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers in Westminster and the surrounding Denver area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers can set their own schedules and work up to five days per week at K–12 schools, choosing assignments that interest them. The role offers daily and long-term teaching assignments, with pay dependent on experience and certification. Substitute teachers may also support schools through lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring. Kokua provides daily support from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and describes the role as an opportunity to serve as a positive role model and make a difference in students’ lives. The position may offer a pathway to permanent roles at high-performing K–12 schools.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and test proctoring.
• Ability to pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
• A bachelor's degree is preferred; candidates without a degree may be considered based on relevant work experience.

Responsibilities
