About The Position

Kokua Education is seeking passionate individuals to become substitute teachers in Round Rock and the surrounding Austin area. This part-time role offers the flexibility to set your own schedule and make a significant impact on students' lives by becoming a positive role model and sparking a love for learning. We are currently accepting applications for the 2026-27 school year and offer a quick interview process. Kokua, meaning 'to come together to fulfill a need,' focuses on placing dedicated individuals in classrooms. Substitute teachers will earn between $129 and $200 per day, depending on qualifications and assignment type, and will be paid weekly via W-2. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience, potentially leading to full-time roles in high-performing K-12 schools, and to teach close to home within the Austin area. Kokua Education offers support from 6 am to 8 pm daily and values the unique experiences substitute teachers bring to the classroom.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience working with children in any setting (classroom, tutoring, coaching, etc.).
Completed 48+ college credit hours.
Confidence in managing a classroom of students.
Willingness to step in where needed.
Ability to pass state & federal background checks (costs reimbursed after 10 assignments).
Belief that every child has a unique & powerful gift to share with the world.
