About The Position

As a Y Substitute Teacher for Head Start, you will work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to ensure successful operation of a classroom. You will be called upon when needed and may work at various locations throughout the Y’s Head Start areas of operation. You will ensure the health, welfare, and safety of children in the program and contribute to an environment that fosters each child’s social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development. You will support economically disadvantaged young children as they prepare for success in school and life.

Requirements

• Interest in the well-being and education of young children; enthusiasm, patience, good humor, good judgment, and a good spirit.
• Prior early childhood experience with infants and toddlers.
• Ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates.
• 90 Hour Child Care Certificate or an associate degree in Early Childhood Education.

Responsibilities
