About The Position

The Substitute Teacher supports the classroom in the absence of assigned staff in maintaining a nurturing and supportive education program for participating children. Substitute Teachers do not have a regular set schedule or guaranteed hours. Employees are contacted to work on an as-needed basis to provide classroom coverage when regular staff are absent and to maintain required staff-to-child ratios.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Three (3) months of experience working in a licensed early childhood or school-based pre-school setting
• Valid ID
• Reliable transportation for use on the job
• Must receive clearance by the Iowa Department of Human Services on child abuse and criminal background checks prior to hire and every two (2) years after.
• Must pass a pre-employment health examination and subsequent health examinations every three (3) years thereafter.
