Substitute teacher positions are available in Special Education, Venture Academy, and Alternative Education, including Extensive Support Needs (Moderate/Severe). Applicants must hold one of the following: a Substitute Teaching Permit or a California Teaching Credential in Multiple Subject, Single Subject, or Education Specialist (Special Education). To qualify for a Substitute Teaching Permit, applicants need a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university, completion of the applicable basic skills requirement and CCTC application 41-4, completion of the required Livescan fingerprinting process, and payment of required CCTC fees. The basic skills requirement is not required for a 30-day Substitute Teacher Permit; it is required for an Emergency Substitute Permit for Prospective Teachers. Applicants must submit a letter of introduction, resume, three professional letters of recommendation, proof of a bachelor’s degree, and a copy of a valid California substitute permit or teaching credential, or transcripts verifying eligibility. Fingerprinting fees also apply to substitute or temporary applicants.
