About The Position

Kokua is seeking Substitute Teachers in Chicago, IL for the 2025-26 school year. This part-time role offers the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community, help address the teacher shortage, and provide students with classroom role models. The position offers a flexible schedule, typically working hours of 7:30 am-3:30 pm, and allows for autonomy in choosing assignments and locations. Kokua Education, founded by a former teacher, has been connecting individuals to K-12 schools for over 13 years, operating across the country and serving schools in Chicago.

Requirements

• 6 months experience working with students (tutoring, camps, volunteer and other experience counts!).
• Associate's Degree (or 60+ credit hours) or higher.
• Current residence in or willingness to commute to Chicago.
• IL Substitute Teaching License or Paraprofessional license.
• Confidence to manage a classroom of students.
• Ability to pass state & federal background check.
• Have reliable means of transportation.
• Not be on the CPS do not hire list.
