Substitute Teacher - English Speaking
About The Position
This is an on-call, as-needed substitute teacher position for the current school year at Académie Lafayette. The role involves implementing the curriculum, maintaining accurate records, collaborating with grade-level teams, and adapting materials to a French immersion theme. Teachers are responsible for behavior management and fostering a positive classroom climate. Candidates should be enthusiastic about working with students of all abilities in a French immersion setting and possess a strong command of French, English, and their subject matter to tailor instruction to student interests and needs. Instructors will be recruited from various French-speaking countries to reflect the global reach of the French language. International candidates require a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience and a teaching degree. Please note that this position is on-call and as needed, and the school cannot provide a work visa for substitute positions.
Requirements
- Hold a Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate
- Proven experience as a teacher; international candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills necessary for working in a multicultural environment
- The ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and to meet deadlines
- Ability to integrate technology into the classroom
- Must be registered with the Family Care Safety Registry
- Must perform a MACHS federal and state background check
- Must have a current Missouri substitute teaching certificate through Missouri DESE (Department of Elementary and Secondary Education)
- For those with foreign transcripts/credentials (and no US college credits), a credential evaluation must be performed to show a minimum of 36 hours of college credit.
