About The Position

This is an on-call, as-needed substitute teacher position for the current school year at Académie Lafayette. The role requires implementing the curriculum, maintaining accurate records, collaborating with grade-level teams, and adapting materials to a French immersion theme. Teachers are responsible for managing student behavior and fostering a positive classroom environment. Candidates should be enthusiastic about working with students of all abilities in a French immersion setting and possess a strong command of French, English, and their subject matter to tailor instruction to student interests and needs. Instructors will be recruited from various French-speaking countries to reflect the global reach of the French language. International candidates must have at least 2 years of teaching experience and a teaching degree.

Requirements

Hold a Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate
Proven experience as a teacher; international candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience
Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills necessary for working in a multicultural environment
The ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and to meet deadlines
Ability to integrate technology into the classroom
Must be registered with the Family Care Safety Registry and perform a MACHS federal and state background check.
Must have a current Missouri substitute teaching certificate through Missouri DESE (Department of Elementary and Secondary Education).

Nice To Haves

Deep enough command of French, English, and their content area to adapt instruction to students’ interests and needs.
Foreign transcripts/credentials (and no US college credits) will need a credential evaluation to show a minimum of 36 hours of college credit.
