About The Position

The Substitute Teacher maintains a Christ-centered classroom environment and ensures students continue learning when the regular teacher is absent. The substitute follows lesson plans, manages classroom behavior, and maintains a safe, orderly classroom. This is a part-time, non-exempt, temporary position, limited to no more than 115 hours per month, with a schedule of 41 weeks from August through May. The role is located at Rejoice Christian School Central Office in Owasso, Oklahoma, and reports to the Assistant Principal.

Requirements

• Be Christian by profession and lifestyle and a member of a local church in good standing.
• Have at least a high school diploma.
• Have basic knowledge of G Suite and Microsoft Office.
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism.
• Have flexibility in availability.
• Be able to move around the classroom and supervise students.
• Be able to lift light classroom materials and maintain student supervision during transitions.
• Employees may be required to undergo drug and alcohol testing because this is a safety-sensitive position.

Responsibilities

• Follow the teacher’s lesson plans and maintain the classroom environment.
• Model Christ-like behavior and promote students’ spiritual growth.
• Keep the classroom neat, organized, and safe for students.
• Take attendance and report concerns about student safety or well-being.
• Supervise students during transitions and ensure their safety.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student, parent, and staff information.
• Participate in emergency drills and report safety concerns to appropriate individuals.
• Manage classroom behavior and support continued student learning in the regular teacher’s absence.
