About The Position

Substitute paraprofessionals are employed on a day-to-day basis as at-will employees of the District. The District may remove a substitute paraprofessional from its list of eligible substitutes at any time without prior notice, and may remove one from an assignment at any time if their performance does not meet the District’s satisfaction.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Basic technology skills.

Responsibilities

• Report to the principal upon arrival, fifteen minutes before the official school opening.
• Review the plans and schedules for the day with the principal, team leader, or department chairperson.
• Assist with the supervision and instruction of students in all aspects of the daily program as directed.
• Implement strategies for individual students as directed by teachers and relevant specialists, including speech and language pathologists, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and vision, hearing, or assistive technology specialists.
• Assist students with self-help activities, such as feeding, life skills, personal hygiene, lifting and transferring, and other health-related services applicable to the program.
• Assist with the preparation and adaptation of instructional materials.
• Help students meet IEP goals and objectives and help manage and maintain the instructional environment.
• Assist with maintaining accurate records to monitor student progress.
• Collect and chart data and administer formal and informal assessment instruments.
• Work with individuals or small groups, at the teacher’s request, to review, reinforce, enrich, or expand previously presented skills and concepts.
• Escort students as needed.
• Assist with technology as needed.
