About The Position

Fairview Park City Schools is seeking an experienced Substitute Mechanic to assist the Head Mechanic on an as-needed basis.

Requirements

• Valid Ohio Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Class B or higher with Passenger and School Bus endorsements, or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
• Minimum five years of experience in vehicle maintenance, preferably with school buses, diesel vehicles, or medium/heavy-duty equipment.
• Strong working knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, brake systems, electrical systems, and hydraulic components.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using modern diagnostic tools and repair manuals.
• Experience maintaining vehicle maintenance records, inspection documentation, and service schedules.
• Ability to manage shop operations independently including parts ordering, inventory tracking, and maintenance planning.
• Demonstrated organization, reliability, and ability to work independently in a fleet maintenance environment.
• Physical ability to perform mechanical work including lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.
• Ability to meet Ohio pupil transportation safety requirements including background checks and state inspection standards.

Nice To Haves

• ASE certification in school bus or heavy vehicle repair preferred.
