About The Position

This position is for a Substitute Food Services Worker at Roswell Independent School District. The role involves various duties within the food service department, depending on the assigned area. Responsibilities include serving food, cooking, cleaning, dishwashing, receiving supplies, and cashier duties. The substitute worker will also supervise student helpers, order supplies, maintain cleanliness, report equipment needs, and ensure proper portion sizes and food classifications according to Federal Guidelines. The role requires maintaining a friendly and courteous attitude towards students and staff, ensuring a smooth and inviting lunch environment, and operating Point of Sale computers if assigned as a cashier. Adherence to HACCP guidelines, food safety training, and accurate record-keeping are essential. The position requires flexibility, organizational skills, decision-making abilities, and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred but not required
  • Must meet all city, state and district licensures and/or certifications as required
  • Current Driver’s license and Car Insurance (if traveling from site to site)
  • School Food Preparation Experience preferred
  • Food Service Safety and Health Requirements
  • Basic mathematical, reading and writing skills
  • Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions (blood borne pathogens, body fluids, etc.)
  • Must know how to properly operate, or be willing to learn to operate, all kitchen equipment as needed
  • Knowledge of Basic mathematical functions
  • Possess organizational skills

  • Counting in all food delivered to be certain there is enough to serve all students for the day
  • Using correct serving equipment to assure proper portion sizes
  • Assuring that each student who is served lunch receives required portions and classifications of required foods according to Federal Guidelines
  • Working closely with all Food Service Employees, school Principal, School secretary and staff maintaining a friendly, courteous attitude
  • Ensuring a smooth running, inviting lunch environment for students
  • Maintaining a friendly warm personality toward all customers
  • Operating Point of Sale Computer if required as a cashier and any other duties performed by a cashier, e.g. collecting on student accounts
  • Following all HACCP guidelines
  • Attending all required training programs pertaining to food safety
  • Keeping all Temperature Logs for coolers, freezers, and dry storage
  • Working rapidly and efficiently in performing job duties
  • Following district policies and administrative rules and regulations
  • Maintaining sanitation procedures
  • Completing required logs and/or paperwork with accuracy and timeliness
  • Maintaining confidentiality with sensitive matters
  • Being flexible and able to prioritize tasks
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed reports

  • Reporting to work on time
  • Working independently with very little supervision
  • Obtaining Food Service Professional Certification if required
