About The Position

Arc Broward is seeking an enthusiastic Substitute ESE Teacher to provide on-call support to students transitioning from high school as they prepare for adult services, with a focus on employment and workforce readiness. The role is on an as-needed, per diem basis and is suited to someone seeking a highly flexible schedule to cover for the regular instructor when absent.

The teacher supports students in developing strategies, making informed choices, following through on responsibilities, and taking risks. The role also involves respectful communication with stakeholders, collaboration with students and interdisciplinary team members, ethical practice, participation in TIEP meetings for long-term substitute assignments, and contributing to program evaluations and organizational priorities to support quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, social services, education, or a related services field.
• ESE Teacher Certification upon hire.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams, Zoom, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Valid Florida driver’s license.
• Successful Level II background check, physical, and drug screen.
• Must be at least 21 years old.

Responsibilities

• Support students in developing strategies, making informed choices, following through on responsibilities, and taking risks.
• Use effective, respectful, and sensitive communication to build rapport and communication channels with stakeholders.
• For long-term substitute assignments, participate as an active member of students’ TIEP meetings.
• Maintain collaborative professional relationships with students and interdisciplinary team members, including family and friends.
• Follow ethical standards of practice, including confidentiality and informed consent, and recognize personal limitations.
• Contribute to program evaluations and help set organizational priorities to ensure quality.
