About The Position

The substitute ECEAP assistant teacher/teacher provides quality, comprehensive child development services to preschool children and their families. This role encourages parental involvement in educational planning, goal setting, and center activities. The position will work as a substitute on an as-needed basis and serves Curlew and Republic School Districts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Maintain a current pediatric CPR/first aid certificate (at employee’s expense).
  • Maintain a current Washington State Department of Health Food Worker Card (at employee’s expense).
  • Valid driver's license and required auto insurance.
  • Reliable personal transportation.
  • Provide proof of Mantoux Tuberculosis (TB) testing, treatment or immunity pursuant to WAC 110-300-0105(3).
  • Provide proof of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunization or proof of immunity in accordance RCW 43.216.690.
  • Washington State Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) portable background check clearance (no cost).
  • WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance (if needed at employee's expense).
  • Must complete mandatory training provided by NEWESD 101.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a support and resource person for families for the purpose of assisting the teacher in case managing specific needs with families, advocating for parents, and encouraging parent involvement in the program.
  • Maintains classroom equipment, supplies, student records (e.g., instructional materials, meal counts, attendance, fire safety checklist, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items, providing reliable information, and/or ensuring a safe and sanitary environment.
  • Monitors students in a variety of educational settings (e.g., classroom, playground, field trips, nap times, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Provides set up and service of meals and snacks for the purpose of meeting nutritional needs of students.
  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
