About The Position
This is a day-to-day, on-call position for a Substitute Custodian. The role directly responds to the Director of Operations and the building principal, ensuring a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient environment for students to learn, play, and develop. The assignment is district-wide, with location and hours to be determined based on district needs.
Requirements
- Ability to provide services which will afford students a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.
- Ability to assume responsibility for general security of the building.
- Ability to assume responsibility for the general fire safety of the building.
- Ability to perform general cleaning and maintenance.
- Ability to assist in snow removal.
- Ability to requisition and receive cleaning supplies and equipment, and maintain necessary inventories.
- Ability to supervise and maintain school grounds.
- Ability to clean and maintain all tools and equipment.
- Ability to perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping floors, emptying waste paper baskets, dusting ledges, windowsills, bookcases, and cleaning glass partitions, sinks, lavatories and water fountains.
- Ability to wash, wax and seal floors according to prescribed procedures and schedules.
- Ability to perform other general related tasks as may be assigned.
Responsibilities
- Assumes responsibility for general security of the building.
- Assumes responsibility for the general fire safety of the building.
- Responsible for all general cleaning and maintenance of his/her job station.
- Performs cleaning services as necessary.
- Assists in snow removal.
- Requisitions and receives cleaning supplies and equipment, and maintains necessary inventories.
- Generally supervises and maintains the school grounds.
- Cleans and maintains all tools and equipment.
- Daily: Sweeps floors, empties waste paper baskets, dusts ledges, windowsills, bookcases, cleans glass partitions, sinks, lavatories and water fountains.
- Washes, waxes and seals floors according to prescribed procedures and schedules.
- Performs other general related tasks as may be assigned.
