Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in welding metal.
  • Possess all skills required for assignment from the foreman for welding.
  • In-depth knowledge of all applicable OSHA codes and standards, especially for welding.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to stay out of town.
  • Available to travel as the project requires.
  • Willing to work over-time and be able to work extended periods of time.
  • Walking and working across uneven terrain.
  • Climbing on and off large trucks and equipment.
  • Must be able to work outside 100% of the time.
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather that includes heat, cold, rain and possible snow.
  • Able to lift in excess of 50 pounds on a daily basis.
  • Willing to work off the ground in man baskets.
  • Must be able to work around energized systems.
  • Must have current applicable aluminum welding certification or be able to successfully pass a weld test.

Nice To Haves

  • Aluminum experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of electrical, below grade or concrete foundation trade a plus.
  • High Voltage Substation construction knowledge or experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately take field measurements for string busswork and tube buss, make cuts, and weld connectors to busswork.
  • Weld aluminum connectors to aluminum busswork (1” to 6” sizes) and aluminum cable up to 2000 AAC.
  • Ensure quality of work is performed according to specifications.
  • Assist with other activities while not actively welding.
  • May work in storm restoration operations to rebuild and/or repair damaged power systems.
  • May attend training classes or seminars to gather knowledge of new processes, safety regulations and/or refresher training.
