About The Position

HDR is seeking a Substation Section Manager to lead its growing Power Delivery team in Boise, Idaho. The role provides operational and technical leadership for a production team and oversees project delivery, staffing, quality, utilization, forecasting, and strategic growth in alignment with HDR’s operating goals and values. The manager collaborates with local, regional, and national leadership to advance project execution, client service, and team development, and helps shape HDR’s substation business in the region.

The position calls for proven power delivery and substation experience, strong leadership and team-building skills, effective communication and organization, a strategic outlook, and commitment to safety, quality, and client satisfaction. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience.
• Proven experience in power delivery and substation projects.
• Strong leadership and team-building skills.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Excellent organizational abilities and the ability to handle multiple assignments.
• Strategic mindset and commitment to operational excellence, safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
• Professional registration, license, or certification may be required based on the role.

Responsibilities

• Lead section operations, including staffing, workload forecasting, quality assurance, and safety.
• Support project managers through proactive project reviews and mentorship.
• Drive recruiting and talent development to grow the section.
• Foster a culture of quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with marketing and client development teams to pursue new business opportunities.
• Promote work-sharing and resource optimization across teams and geographies.
• Administer performance reviews and support career growth for direct reports.
• Champion a positive and inclusive work environment.
• Provide technical leadership, client management, and project oversight as needed.
