About The Position

Within the Energy department, as a Substation Engineer - Grounding, you will be responsible for performing substation grounding modeling using CDEGS software and its various SES modules, including HIFREQ. You will also conduct other substation studies such as rigid and strain bus calculations, AC/DC load studies, Ampacity Studies, Arc Flash studies, lightning protection and insulation coordination, lighting, transformer and bus sizing calculations, fault calculations, and AC and DC auxiliary system sizing calculations. The role involves power system studies including load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, protection and coordination, and ampacity studies. Additionally, you will be involved in proposal preparation, estimating, providing input to scope documents, client presentations, and ensuring the quality assurance of documents to applicable client standards. You will discuss technical problems and communicate effectively with project personnel and external customers, perform independent audits and reviews of technical work, and provide final reports summarizing projects, timelines, power quality, system adequacy, reliability, compatibility, and compliant work execution. You will also offer customer support and problem resolution related to the project, product, process, and quality system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant High Voltage Substation studies.
  • Experience with power system load flow, fault analysis, and short circuit studies.
  • Experience with CDEGS, CYMCAP, SES-Shield 3D, ETAP, SAMCEF, PSS/E, EMTP, and PLS-CADD.
  • Strong written, interpersonal and presentation communication skills.
  • Professional Engineer of Ontario (P.Eng) is required.
