Amentum is looking for a Submarine Fire Control Technician in Norfolk, VA. This position is currently not funded but expected to be in November 2026. The role involves performing onboard Fire Team Analysis (FTA) to check out, fault isolate, and repair equipment/system deficiencies of submarine combat control systems. It also includes providing on-the-job training (OJT) to ship's force and direct FTA support by responding to fleet requests for troubleshooting guidance, assistance, and part identification. Requests are typically received via telephone and require research of technical documents available at MARMC. The technician will also provide, review, and create TAVR messages, update the FTS and TAR for work accomplished, provide OEM support, support the SWFTS suite, review CASREP and Tech Assist message traffic, provide updates for the FTS database, calibrate government combat test equipment, perform onboard FTA during IA posture transition events, and support scheduled submarine NIWC/SIIMO AN/BYG-1 Alteration Installation Team (AIT) efforts. Specific efforts include technical/logistical support for legacy retained equipment, performing Combat Control pre-testing, rip-out, post-testing, and ECI installation on submarines, and reviewing/commenting on documentation for ECI installation. Support for the installation/logistics of the AN/BYG-1 Combat Control System on submarines is also required.
