About The Position

GDIT is seeking highly motivated technicians to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair submarine periscopes and photonics-based imaging systems. The role involves working with a variety of technologies including electronics, optics, electro-mechanical interfaces, infrared imaging, night vision devices, digital still cameras, HD/HDSDI video cameras, micro-controllers, precision controllers, gyro-stabilized systems, radio frequency equipment, electronic surveillance systems, GPS, communication systems, and server-based systems/networks. Technicians must be comfortable working independently, setting personal schedules, and completing tasks to meet team goals with minimal supervision. Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) System Operation, Maintenance, Troubleshooting, Certification, Design, and Development is highly desirable, as is knowledge of commercial off-the-shelf digital cameras, video cameras, infrared cameras, and night vision equipment. The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings, along with mechanical aptitude for disassembling and reassembling complex equipment, is essential. The role requires the ability to operate basic measuring devices and learn new skills through hands-on training and mentorship. Experience with the Navy’s SUBSAFE program is a plus, as is knowledge of basic cable building, repairs, and troubleshooting to MIL-Spec requirements. Familiarity with electronic test equipment such as multimeters, meggers, RF analyzers, and oscilloscopes is desired. A former military electronics background is highly desirable. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Windows, Office products, SharePoint, and Teams, are required. Experience with computer servers, server maintenance/repair, Linux-based operating systems, networking, and basic programming skills are a plus. The ability to operate basic hand tools for disassembly, repair, and re-assembly is necessary. Technicians must be able to work effectively within diverse teams and also be competent to handle high-profile troubleshooting independently. A minimum Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one is required. An Associate's degree or equivalent experience and 8+ years of applicable experience are necessary. US Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in Radio Frequency (RF) System Operation, Maintenance, Troubleshooting, Certification, Design and Development is highly desirable.

  • Perform basic cable building, repairs, and troubleshooting skills to MIL-Spec requirements.
  • Operate electronic test equipment such as multimeters, meggers, RF analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Utilize basic computer skills including Microsoft Windows, Office products, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Perform maintenance/repair on computer servers, Linux-based operating systems, and networking.
  • Operate basic hand tools in the disassembly, repair, and re-assembly of various components and systems.
  • Work within diversely experienced teams and competently take on high profile troubleshooting in solo environments.
