About The Position

This role involves the testing and integration of Electronic Warfare subsystems within the Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems (SWFTS). The engineer will develop test plans and procedures, lead test events in various environments (lab, shipyards, onboard submarines), and analyze test data. Experience with Linux, Common Computer Environment (CCE), and RF hardware characterization is essential. The position requires strong communication skills for coordinating with various stakeholders and developing comprehensive test reports. Approximately 25% domestic travel is expected.

Requirements

  • Experience as US Navy Submarine IT (E/S) Technician
  • BS 2-4 Years, MS 0-2 or HS 8-10
  • Formal testing experience on a Department of Defense (DoD) production delivery environment
  • Experience working proactively with local and remote test team members
  • Solid verbal and communications skills among your peers, up the chain of command, along with written/communication skills via Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with testing in an Agile development environment
  • Knowledge of requirements management and system modeling tools
  • Working knowledge of test engineering concepts, principles, and theories
  • Experience working in the Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical System (SWFTS) submarine community
  • Recognition of relevant information, and clear communication of issues and alternatives
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance

  • Roughly 25% travel (domestic only) required to support the AN/BLQ-10 (Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)s and Performance Verification Test (PVT)s.

Responsibilities

  • Develop test plans and procedures to support Electronic Warfare subsystems integration, verification, and validation within the Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems (SWFTS).
  • Lead the execution of test events for Electronic Warfare systems in the lab environment, at NUWC, Contractor testing facilities, shipyards and onboard submarines.
  • Utilize Linux experience with file structure and basic troubleshooting commands for building, configuration, and integration of new software for TI-24 and TI-26 systems.
  • Understand the Common Computer Environment (CCE) integration for TI-22 and new technical insertions (TI-24 (+)) used in System of System and SWFTS software environments.
  • Generate, review, and validate system requirements verification matrices from performance specifications to support test plan and procedure development.
  • Communicate effectively to support coordination of test events with ranges, platforms, TYCOMs, sponsors, and test teams.
  • Develop test reports following completion of test events and analyze data output from test events.
  • Develop emitter simulations to model the environment for lab-based testing.
  • Perform Builder analysis in support of test planning and data analysis.
  • Test and characterize RF hardware.
  • Actively participate in events and provide daily reports to the T&E team.
  • Review AN/BLQ-10 T&E documentation and provide feedback to ensure testing is done properly and accurately.
