About The Position

The Subcontracts Specialist is responsible for the cradle-to-grave management of complex subcontract and procurement activities supporting development, production, and proposal efforts. This position serves as a key business partner to Program Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Finance organizations to ensure supplier performance, contractual compliance, and program execution objectives are achieved. The successful candidate will independently manage competitive and sole-source procurements, conduct supplier negotiations, administer subcontract agreements, and support proposal and production activities in a fast-paced aerospace and defense environment.

Requirements

  • Requires proficient knowledge of job area. May have practical knowledge of project management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full subcontract lifecycle, including sourcing strategy development, RFP/RFQ issuance, proposal evaluation, negotiations, subcontract award, administration, and closeout
  • Perform price and cost analysis to determine fair and reasonable pricing and document procurement decisions in accordance with company procedures
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, statements of work, terms and conditions, and risk mitigation strategies with suppliers
  • Prepare and administer purchase orders, subcontracts, modifications, and related contractual documentation
  • Partner with Program Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to support program schedules, resolve supplier issues, and mitigate supply chain risks
  • Monitor supplier performance related to cost, quality, and delivery requirements and develop corrective action plans when necessary
  • Support proposal efforts by obtaining supplier quotations, evaluating supplier responses, and developing sourcing recommendations
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, FAR/DFARS regulations, CPSR requirements, and applicable procurement procedures
  • Maintain procurement documentation and subcontract files to support internal audits, customer reviews, and DCMA oversight activities
  • Identify and execute cost savings, risk reduction, and process improvement opportunities
  • Support supplier relationship management activities, business reviews, and strategic sourcing initiatives
