About The Position

This position provides daily support for Operations, Maintenance, trending system performance, and initiating actions to restore/improve system performance and reliability. It involves troubleshooting off-normal system conditions, performing failure and root cause analysis, evaluating proposed configuration changes, making recommendations to maintain asset value, and coordinating maintenance-related projects. Assignments are designed to develop general knowledge of professional engineering practice in the electric utility industry and introduce customer/supplier communication skills. Specifically, the role involves developing short-term and long-term Subtransmission plans and providing operational support in the area of Subtransmission planning to identify improvements for projected load increases and solve operational problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited university or college, or Professional Engineering (PE) License and bachelor's degree in engineering from a non-ABET accredited school (Level I).
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university or college, or Professional Engineering License obtained by accredited examination (Level II & III).
  • Successfully passed the Engineering in Training (EIT) / Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination (Level III).

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily support for Operations and Maintenance.
  • Trend system performance and initiate actions to restore/improve system performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot off-normal system conditions.
  • Perform failure and root cause analysis.
  • Evaluate proposed configuration changes.
  • Make recommendations to maintain asset value.
  • Coordinate maintenance-related projects.

  • Provide operational support in the area of Subtransmission planning.
  • Identify improvements required to serve projected load increases.
  • Solve operational problems.
  • Perform tasks of limited and specific scope under the direction of experienced personnel (Level I).
  • Apply standard engineering practices and techniques utilizing prescribed methods (Level I).
  • Correlate data and recognize discrepancies in results (Level I).
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers as directed by supervision (Level I).
  • Plan and conduct detailed phases of work in support of multiple assignments (Level II).
  • Manage assignments of moderate scope (Level II).
  • Independently select and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures (Level II).
  • Develop competent technical knowledge within an engineering discipline (Level II).
  • Develop customer relation skills (Level II).
  • Introduce project management skills (Level II).
  • Perform detailed development, planning, and implementation of numerous concurrent assignments of moderate scope (Level III).
  • Perform work which includes a variety of complex features (Level III).
  • Perform as a consultant in technical specialties to determine and assess technical and economic feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering solutions (Level III).
  • Analyze unusual operating conditions (Level III).
  • Communicate with customers concerning needs and work status (Level III).
  • Develop a broad range of knowledge within the specific engineering discipline with expertise in numerous areas and general knowledge of other engineering disciplines (Level III).
