The Rural EMS Student Worker supports projects designed to strengthen emergency medical services in rural and frontier Nevada. Under the direction of the Rural EMS Coordinator and program staff, the student works on projects involving data and research, surveys and evaluation, outreach, workforce development, policy, communications, and other rural EMS priorities. Assignments depend on current program needs and may take into account the student's interests, academic background, experience, and skills. Projects offer hands-on experience while contributing to rural EMS initiatives throughout Nevada. Work is generally approximately 10–20 hours per week, depending on project scope, program needs, and student availability. Schedules are coordinated with program staff and may be flexible around academic schedules. Students may have opportunities to travel within Nevada for site visits, conferences, symposiums, trainings, community events, and other activities related to assigned projects. Some in-state travel may require overnight stays or activities outside normal business hours; travel is project-dependent and is not expected for every student worker.
