About The Position

This position is ideal for students interested in technical theatre, engineering, construction, or event production. You will get practical experience in a live theater setting. This position is reserved for Federal Work Study (FWS) students only.

Requirements

• Knowledge of or willingness to learn carpentry/ using hand tools like drills, hammers, saws, etc.
• Experience painting sets and/or crafting props
• Basic knowledge of backstage work
• Familiarity with or willingness to learn hanging and adjusting lights
• Ability to work in a team on big projects
• Communication and Time Management of assigned tasks
• Physical Stamina
• Reliability and Independence

• Technical Skills Development – Gain hands-on experience in set construction, scenic painting, and prop fabrication.
• Stagecraft Knowledge – Understand the basics of lighting, rigging, and backstage operations in a theatre setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up lighting, sound, and stage equipment for productions.
• Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of technical gear.
• Working on screen / LED backdrop (QLab) technology.
• Collaborate with the technical director(s) to ensure smooth production.
• Help with stage design and construction of sets and props as needed.
• Help with organization and clean up of materials and theatre space.
• Support during live performances as needed to manage technical aspects.
