About The Position

Student Engagement Assistants work closely with the Center for Student Engagement to help provide engaging, social events and programs for students. Student workers help support events and programs hosted by the Center for Student Engagement, as well as the daily operations of the Palmieri Activities Center (PAC) and the PAC Pub. Student workers are scheduled around academic and university obligations, but are responsible for reporting those obligations to their supervisor in a timely manner. Evening and weekend hours will be required; students in this position must have the ability to work during these times.

Requirements

  • Students will be expected to complete all the necessary training required for this position, including obtaining the following certifications: Adult CPR/AED & First Aid, Alcohol Awareness (Safe Alcohol Service – SAS or Training for Intervention Procedures – TIPS), Crowd Manager, Driver Certification (including behind the wheel and safety training), Food Safety (ServSafe).
  • Students will also receive training on how to operate basic audio and video (AV) equipment and lighting equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage small and large-scale events and programs on and off-campus sponsored by the Center of Student Engagement.
  • Serve as day-of-event staff for programs at events sponsored by the Center of Student Engagement and provide support during setup and cleanup.
  • Transport students for off-campus events and programs using approved university vehicles.
  • Provide technological support for events and programs hosted at the Palmieri Activities Center (PAC).
  • Be knowledgeable of the events and program schedule for the Center of Student Engagement and the Student Life Division and be able to answer student questions about upcoming events.
  • Open the PAC and prepare the building for student lounge hours; close the building at the end of the day and lock up all equipment.
  • Assist with logistical management of events and programs hosted at the PAC.
  • Monitor the PAC building to identify concerns (damages, missing items, etc.).
  • Keep detailed notes regarding building activity that occur throughout each shift, including student attendance.
  • Check-in and check-out of equipment, gaming equipment (board games, etc.), and other supplies provided by the PAC.
  • Perform light maintenance and cleaning tasks, including rearranging and resetting of building furniture for student lounge hours.
  • Collect money for trips and ticket sales as well as record relevant participant registration data.
  • Provide welcoming and friendly customer service to all users of the PAC.
  • Fulfill student drink orders accurately and promptly.
  • Use the Linga point of sale (POS) system to process drink orders and payments.
  • Verify the age of students over the age of 21 in accordance with county and state regulations.
  • Keep detailed notes regarding building activity that occur throughout each shift, including incidents and potential concerns.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the serving and seating area (wiping down surfaces, cleaning up spills, etc.).
  • Provide welcoming and friendly customer service to all users of the PAC Pub.
